My CAR Goal

My goal is to save up for another pair of converse.
It will cost $100.
I am able to achieve this goal by doing my chores, saving my pocket money and Christmas money.
I will achieve this goal by the 2nd of January, that is 5 weeks away.
My goal is realistic to achieve in this time.

Cinquain Poem

Rainbow
Bright, colourful
Flying, sparkling, dazzling
Glaring in the sky when it rains
Cheerful

Super Suspension

We liked the length of our design because it was a good size for a bridge. We also liked the shape of it, because it was easy to work with. We liked the colours as well because they made the bridge look like a mini tourist attraction and more appealing.

We didn't like the height because the length wouldn't work with it, which made it sink in the middle. We also didn't like the overall outcome because the middle sank in.

If we had more time we would start again and make some changes.

Haiku Poems

Rainbows
Colours in the sky,
Sparkling up so high, they fly,
Glaring in the air.

My Day In a Wheelchair

Today I went to technology in a wheelchair it was hard at the start but then I got the hang of it and I now feel different about people in wheelchairs because I have experienced it the hardest part of today was in cooking when you have to get in to small spaces and when your on the grass :)!

Cultural Festival 2012

On Tuesday the 4th of September Burnham School Kapa Haka Group were backstage ready to go on tho the stage to perform at the 2012 Cultural Festival at the CBS Arena. Gem from What Now was on stage giving out a Cultural Festival t-shirt. Finnly was really nervous, I just told her to breathe and imagine no one was there. The two hosts Matai and Ra said,"We now have Te Kura O Tiori, Burnham School reaching for the stars".
All I heard was Hannah's sister Michaella say," Go Burnham"
The boys haka's were really loud and the stage was shaking and made our performance come come in with a bang. Then we got into Ka Pioioi, our kaea's Taleah, Hannah and Britteney sounded amazing and lead us in brilliantly, the group filled the stadium with noise, it sounded amazing.
Our last song was Reach for the Stars, but we sang it in Maori with a mix of English. The first verse was the girls poi and the rest we did actions to. When we got back to our seats I'm sure we all still had that adrenaline in us, but we soon settled down.
The Cultural Festival was really fun this year, it was my 5th time I have performed at a Cultural Festival

Statistical Investigation Poster

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Our groups statistical investigation was I wonder if boys can throw further than girls?
The type of graph I created was a bar graph.
The results show that boys can throw further in distance and longer from the time in the air.

Speech and Mihi

The class said I had good eye contact, clarity, volume and pace.
The class wished that next time I could improve my pronounciation.
Next time I deliver a speech I will try to look up from the paper more and maybe practice my mihi a little bit more.

Mardi GRAS mask

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Compared to my plan of my mask the shape, decorations and colour has changed. The hardest part in making my mask was making the shape of my mask because it was so hard to make the shape I wanted in the end my mask didnt look how I wanted it to. The colours I decided to use represent me because I used my favourite colours. My mask shows my personality through the culture of me and because it has my favourite colours and I made it unique. My mask is is suitable for celbrating 30 years of the Cultural Festival because it is unique and I think every culture is different and unique.

Native Bird Artwork

When we made native bird sketching what I did well is the colouring and the bird shape.
What I could of done better is made the kiwi's whiskers better and more realistic and the background in lighter shades.
In order to create the artwork we had to do this step by step firstly to lightly draw an outline of our bird and decide what native bird we wanted to do. Next we lightly coloured in the base colours. Then we went around the background and in the middle of the kiwi and coloured it in darkly. After that we got a black crayon and made an outline for the picture. Finally we dyed the picture with orange, brown, yellow and green.

ANZAC speech 2012

2mins ANZAC speech Hello my name is Shalagh and I am from Burnham School To quote John mccrae's Flanders field poem we are the dead short days ago we lived ,felt dawn, saw sunset glow, loved and were loved and now we lie in Flanders fields . take up quarrel with the foe to you from failing hands we throw the torch be yours to hold it high if ye break faith with us who die we shall not sleep, though poppies grow in Flanders field. So why u ask do we wear the poppy ,we wear it in tribute to those who died so we may know peace ,so we may hold our heads up high in the knowledge that we belong to this great country and to know that this right was bought in the blood of our ancestors , why do we lay wreaths because it is a sign of respect to those who bravely fought for their peace. Why do we still fight ,we fight because our absent friends have passed on the torch to us to hold high so that they may sleep and know the poppies will grow above them in peace. How much is a soldiers life worth ,a short few weeks ago my grandfather passed on the torch to be held high and so it is now ours to hold high,he has gone to the great lodge in the sky with the knowledge that we are left to grow old ,we now have the task to go on and we will do as is right regardless of the cost.
